Today was another slow day. We woke up late and decided we'd stick around the campsite, so that we didn't have to pack up the tent. Our campground is right on the edge of the west arm of Kootenay Lake, so we walked down to the shore to have a look around.

Kootenay Lake is huge! When we first got to the beach, we were amazed at how far away the opposite shore was. It wasn't until we looked at a map and realised we were on short west arm of the lake, and the actual lake is over 100km long! We tried to walk along the lake shore to the camp's visitor centre, but we ended up lost in some marshland. We found lots of evidence of huge birds (we think Canada Geese); heaps of footprints, lots of poop, and large-bird-sized paths trampled through the grass. We thought that we were probably encroaching on their living space, so we turned back.

Once we got back to the real path, we easily found the visitor centre. It was horrendously hot outside, so we sat in the shade with some cool drinks from their snack shop and wrote up a few blog posts that had been sitting around. There was a group of kids on a park-organised program playing on the lawn under a sprinkler. Definitely the right idea for a day like this.
